- Description
- The National Cancer Institute, Division of Cancer Epidemiology & Genetics, Radiation Epidemiology Branch intends to negotiate on a sole source basis with the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis, MN 55455 for continuation of services for a one-year add-on for research currently underway under contract N01-CP-51016. Research is being conducted to investigate the distribution and determinants of cancer in human populations exposed to ionizing radiation using epidemiologic and biostatistical approaches. This study continues to evaluate the long-term health effects o f chronic occupational exposure to low-level radiation. The University of Minnesota has been under contract (NO1-CP-21015, N01-CP-15673, N01-CP-51016) to the National Cancer Institute since 1982 to conduct two questionnaire surveys for cancer incidence and to establish a repository of biologic samples for genetic studies. The proposed action will continue ongoing cohort follow-up, cancer validation, data preparation, and data analysis activities and to collect approximately 1,500 additional blood samples for genetic studies of cancer. Authority: 41 USC 253(c)(1), as set forth in FAR 6.302-1. Numbered Note 22 applies as follows: The proposed contract action is for supplies or services for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of FAR 6.302. Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement or submit proposals. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. However, all proposals received within forty-five days (thirty days if award is issued under an existing basic ordering agreement) after date of publication of this synopsis will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to compete with this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. No collect calls will be accepted.
