Description

As the procurement office for FBA-West, the Bureau of the Public Debt intends to issue a commercial-item solicitation, on a sole-source basis, to acquire a unique medical waste disposal treatment product for effective disposal of medical sharps. The product being procured disposes of sharps (a medical waste or biohazard) and the unique process results in an end product that is environmentally safe. The Bureau of the Public Debt believes this product to be unique in the market place and we have found no suitable alternatives. Offerors who provide information should provide the following: All responses must be in writing, must be accompanied by sufficient documentation to clearly show equal results and/or the ability to dispose of sharps with the resulting waste being an environmentally safe product. All responses must be received within 15 days after publication of this notice, to the effect that a comparable item(s) or service(s) is available, and must demonstrate that it would be more advantageous to the Government to compete for these services in lieu of obtaining them through a sole-source contract with Earth-Shield Company, 304 Yampa Street, Bakersfield, CA 93307. If no suitable responses are received by 5/18/01 then the Bureau of the Public will proceed with the sole-source solicitation.
