SUBJECT: Model 220B Komarek Roll Briquette Machine DESC: The U.S. Department of Energy's National Energy Technology Laboratory (NETL), Pittsburgh, PA intends to award a purchase order on a sole-source basis to K. R. Komarek Inc., Elk Grove Village, IL to provide the following item which is to be delivered to our DOE site in Albany, Or. A Komarek Roll Briquette Machine Model 220B. This is a compact, mobile machine that is designed to be used in a n enclosed space which will prevent contamination of surrounding areas when it is used with hazardous materials. In the past, a great deal of the time and resources were used to clean up contamination from feed preparation with the concern of off-center contamination always a worry. This machine will eliminate that potential problem. This purchase order is being issued to K.R. Komarek Inc. Because they have supplied all of the recent dedicated baghouse systems for the center electric arc furnaces. Also, because of the compatibility of the unit baghouse system now being used at this site. Significant amounts of funding can be saved by standardizing on one brand of dedicated furnace baghouses. This would allow for the continuous stocking and purchase or spare parts for these systems now being maintained. Also would save in the ease of maintenance through less training and familiarization with the use of the set of equipment now located at this site. This request is considered to be a sole source to K.R. Komarek Inc. Therefore, no solicitation will result from this announcement. This award shall be made using simplified acquisition procedures. Any firm believing that they can provide the required equipment may submit a written response clearly showing it's ability to provide the required equipment, which will be considered by this agency.
