Description

The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12 and the Simplified Acquisition Procedures set forth in FAR Part 13. This notice is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with the format in FAR Subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation, which is issued as a Request for Quotation (RFQ); quotes are being requested and a written solicitation will not be issued. Offerors are required to use the On-Line RFQ system to submit their quote. The On-line RFQ system is linked above or it may be accessed at http://procurement.nasa.gov/cgi-bin/EPS/bizops.cgi?gr=C&pin= . The information required by FAR Subpart 12.6 is included in the on-line RFQ. NASA/MSFC plans to acquire various sizes and quantities of piping, fittings, flanges, bolts, and nuts as specified in the on-line RFQ. Pipe and fitting general specifications are as follows: (1) All pipe sizes and specifications shall conform to the dimensions of ASME B36.10 or ASME B36.19; (2) All fittings shall conform to the dimensions of ASME B16.9 or ASME B16.28; (3) All flanges shall conform to the dimensions and pressure/temperature ratings of ASME B16.5; (4) All bevels for buttwelding ends of pipe fittings and flanges shall conform to ASME B16.25. Pipe and fitting material specifications are as follows: (1) Pipe: ASTM-A312-TP304L, seamless, stainless steel; (2) Pipe fittings: ASTM-A403-WP-S, 304L stainless steel; (3) Pipe flanges: ASTM-A182-F304L stainless steel; (4) Stud bolts: ASTM-A193-Grade 8, stainless steel; (5) Hexagon nuts: ASTM-A194-Grade 8, stainless steel. Questions regarding this acquisition must be submitted in writing (e-mail is preferred) no later than May 7, 2001. Prospective quoters shall notify this office of their intent to submit a quotation. It is the quoter's responsibility to monitor this site for the release of amendments (if any). Potential quoters will be responsible for downloading their own copy of this notice, the on-line RFQ and amendments (if any). An ombudsman has been appointed -- See NASA Specific Note "B".
