- Description
- The Naval Surface Warfare Center, Dahlgren Division, intends to purchase on a sole source basis: 2 each of P/N NK-2002-V, NIKSUN NetVCR Rackmount 2100SL Chassis with NIKSUN MERCURY traffic recording engine, 72GB HDD & (4)HDX 10/100 Ethernet (Includes NetVCR Software); 1 each of P/N NK-2002-D, NIKSUN NetDetector Rackmount 2100SL Chassis with NIMSUN MERCURY traffic recording engine, 72GB HDD & (4)HDX 10/100 Ethernet (Includes NetVCR software); 3 each of P/N NK-2202, upgrade units from 72GG HDD to 144GB HDD; 3 each of P/N NK-526RO, NetReporters; 3 each of P/N NK-PLTTSP-SL, 1-year Platinum Level Technical Support Package; from OSI Federal Technologies, 5712GG General Washington Drive, Alexandria, VA 22312. This hardware is required as part of a network monitoring upgrade to the NAVSEA Distributed Engineering Plant (DEP). It will be deployed at the Operating Center node on the DEP network. The network recording upgrades will collect, record, and analyze all network traffic data during DEP test events. The following are requirements for the network recording system: (1) The system must be secure (w/built-in firewall); (2) The system must have site-selectable privileges that can be granted on a per user basis; (3) The system must be able to query 120 GByte database in less than 30 seconds; (4) The system must be able to easily resolve Domain Name Service (DNS) names; (5) The system must provide detailed performance metrics for Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) applications including round-trip-time, % of retransmits and server response time; (6) The system must be capable of being field-upgraded to Giga-Bit Ethernet; (7) Equipment must support 2 configuration options, (a) Four 100 Base T Ethernet links simultaneously, (b) Two ATM OC-3; (8) The system must be able to record full packet or all protocol information, (first 200 bytes of each packet) selectable by the site; (9) The system must be able to record all packets across all interfaces at full line speeds while performing simultaneous analyses; (10) The system must be able to store over 120 Gbytes of collected information; (11) The system must be field upgradeable to store over 250 Gbytes of information; (12) The system must be able to archive selected windows of captured network traffic to a network accessible disk store; (13) The system must be able to break out layers 2 through 7 of the Open System Interconnection (OSI) protocol stack; (14) The systems must provide detailed reports on network utilization; (15) The system must be able to go back over 48 hours in time to review collected network traffic; (16) The system must be capable of performing complex fractal analyses on collected network traffic; (17) The system must be accessible from multiple operators simultaneously via a Web browser. The network monitoring upgrades will perform lawful-recording and intrusion detection during DEP test events. The following are requirements for the network monitoring system: (1) Must be able to record all packets across all interfaces at full line speeds while performing simultaneous analyses and storage; (2) Must be able to sustain disk storage rates of over 300 Mbits per second; (3) The storage must be simultaneous with full packet capture across interfaces; (4) Must be able to go back over 120 hours in time to review collected network traffic; (5) Must be able to do complex queries to database (e.g. show all traffic flows into and out of IP address xyz from 1000 yesterday to 1300 today), to facilitate forensic investigation of suspect network intrusions; (6) The remaining network monitoring requirements are identical to recording requirements (1) through (14) and (17) listed for the network recording system. OSI Federal Technologies is the reseller of the NIKSUN NetVCR and NetDetector, which meet all of the above requirements. Award is to be made under Simplified Acquisition Procedures (FAR 13) by the Naval Surface Warfare Center, 17320 Dahlgren Road, Dahlgren, VA 22448-5100.
