Description
Description 1. The Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) manages science and technology (S&T) programs supporting the space requirements for Air Force Space Command (AFSPC) and the Space and Missile Systems Center (SMC). A committee, co-chaired by AFSPC, SMC and AFRL, has commissioned 12 of these technologies into Advanced Technology Demonstrations (ATDs). Our ATDs are programs that have the potential to transition AFRL technology to the Space Users (SMC & AFSPC) between the fiscal years 2002 and 2009. We would like to understand the potential of transitioning this technology from these 12 ATDs to industry. 2. These technologies, along with their information, are only available to US based Government and industries with a valid Militarily Critical Technical Data Agreement. If your company is appropriately registered with DTIC, you will need to complete an AFRL Form-15, which can be retrieved from http://extra.afrl.af.mil/register.htm . Government representatives should complete an AFRL Form-14, which can be found at the same Internet site. Submit the completed form per the instructions. If approved, you will be provided credentials that are required to access the 12 ATDs. 3. Our objective with this Request for Information (RFI) process is to gain US industry_s perspective into industry_s possible exploitation of AFRL science and technology ATDs investments in Space. We would like industry and government responders to provide a concept description of your potential use of this technology. Please identify: a) Key efforts from the AFRL technology that will be useful, b) Additional information, data or technology that would be useful to further your implementation efforts, c) Any Independent Research and Development (IR&D) information that might lead to collaboration with AFRL, and d) Government or commercial production systems that can exploit this technology. 4. Descriptions should be in a Microsoft Office-compatible (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) electronic format. Please limit your report to less than five Word pages or 20 PowerPoint slides per technology response. These descriptions are preferred to be unclassified and non-proprietary. Deadline for receiving descriptions and nominations is Friday, 29 Jun 01. Include the full contact information for these people including: full name, organization, organizational symbol, mailing address, telephone number and E-mail address. E-mail submittals are preferred. This announcement is an expression of interest only and does not obligate the government in any way. This is not a formal request for proposal. Response to this request is on a voluntary basis and failure to respond will not impact any future acquisition. 5. Concept descriptions and nominations may be sent to Mr. Lloyd Greene, AFRL/XPS, 1864 4th St. Room 266, Wright-Patterson AFB OH 45433-7131, (937) 255-5962, Lloyd.Greene@afrl.af.mil. The government will not return any materials submitted in response to this RFI. Concept submitters are advised that Aerospace (Federally Funded Research and Development Center) and AFRL support contractors may and probably will have access to this information. Further, this information may be provided to other AFRL, Air Force and DoD organizations. Questions may be directed to Mr. Lloyd Greene, AFRL/XPS, (937) 255-5962, Lloyd.Greene@afrl.af.mil.
