Description
THIS NOTICE CONSTITUTES AMENDMENT NO. 1 TO THE COMBINED SYNOPSIS/RFQ FOR Vacuum Flange and Pipe Hardware for 9-ft. Vacuum Chamber. Companies shall acknowledge all amendment(s) in their quote. This notice serves as the official amendment to subject synopsis/RFQ and a written amendment will not be issued. The purpose of this amendment is to provide potential quoters with the questions received in regard to this solicitation and the answers thereto as follows: Question 1: Should the stud spec be ASTM A193 B8? Answer to 1: ASTM A193 is acceptable. Question 2: Are studs fully threaded? Answer to 2: Studs are fully threaded. Question 3: Is there any preference for wahsers dimensions OD, ID, and thickness? Is any marking required on the washers? Is there a requirement for the washers material -- must the washers material be 304L? Answer to 3: Nominal ID is to match associated stud OD, with OD and thickness per standard USS flat washer dimensions Question 4: Is nut quantity requirement 200 ea as listed in the solicitation, or are 400 ea needed (2 per stud)? Answer to 4: The quantity for stainless steel hex nuts 3/8-16, 7/8-9 and 1-8 should be 400 ea. Question 5: Under material specifications for the fittings, it is stated as "s" for seamless, yet the individual fitting items are described as "welded". Does "welded" mean the ends shall be buttwelded or does it mean the fitting can be supplied welded? Ansewer to 5: Fittings are to be welded as specified in the individual item descriptions. Regarding the questions and answers stated, this amendment changes the specifications as follows: (1) The material specification for pipe fittings is changed from "ASTM-A403-WP-S" to "ASTM-A403-WP". (2) The material specification for stud bolts is changed from "ASTM-A193-Grade 8" to "ASTM-A193-Grade 8 or B8" (3) The quantity for Item Nos. 27, 28, and 29 is changed from 200 each to 400 each. The on-line RFQ has been modified to incorporate these changes. All other specifications remain unchanged. The due date for receipt of offers is extended to May 17, 2001, 4:30 pm CST. Companies shall provide the information stated in the synopsis/RFQ posted on the NASA Acquisition Internet Service (NAIS) on May 4, 2001.
