Description

The U.S. Army Aviation and Missile Command, Deputy Product Manager for Test Equipment Modernization Program (DPM, TEMOD) is responsible for the acquisition of state-of-the-art, commercial/non-developmental general-purpose test equipment. The equipment is used to standardize Army inventory and replace existing obsolete test equipment. A Draft Performance Specification has been developed for a LAN Cable Test Set. The LAN Cable Test Set shall allow one person to perform installation certification testing against the Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) Standard 568 and to perform troubleshooting and fault location of copper cable. It shall be able to determine cable compatibility with various network standards and to verify copper cable installations to test standards Categories 3, 4, 5, 5E, and 6. It shall be operable either by AC adapter or NiCad battery packs. Furthermore, consideration shall be given to the following characteristics: ease of user operation, weight, battery life, operating environment (i.e., humidity, temperature, etc.), degree of internal BIT, MTBF, MTTR, and soldier's operational burden (to include MOPP IV operation). Inputs by contractors to the Draft Performance Specification and Questionnaire shall be accepted and considered for inclusion into a Final Performance Specification. Procurement is expected to be full and open.
