Description

The National Institute of Standards & Technology (NIST) has a requirement for a modular tunable laser system with one unit capable of 1440-1520nm tuning and a second unit capable of 1520 -- 1600nm tuning. Both units should have a wavelength accuracy of 0.2 nm or better, a wavelength stability of .01nm/hr or better, a tuning speed of 10nm/sec, a power output of at least 0 dBm, RIN less than145dB/Hz, and side mode suppression of greater than 45dB. The linewidth should be ~150kHz with the option of increasing the linewidth to 100MHz. The units should also have external modulation capability. Finally, the outputs should be fiber coupled with FC/PC or FC/APC connectors. These sources must be controllable by a GPIB (IEEE488.2) interface and capable of at least 0dBm output. This procurement is being conducted per FAR Part 13, Simplified Acquisition Procedures (below $100K). All specifications are addressed in this synopsis. Technical merit as well as price will be used to evaluate offers. As technical merit becomes more equal, price becomes a greater factor.
