Description

The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Agricultural Marketing Service has announced plans to purchase consumer pack whole turkeys, bulk pack turkeys, turkey roasts, and turkey hams for school lunch and other domestic food nutrition programs. Consumer pack whole turkey, turkey roasts, and turkey hams are for preparation and consumption in present forms by recipients. Bulk pack turkey will be purchased for delivery to a processor and is for conversion in accordance with contracts with recipients. Bids will be accepted every first and third Monday of each month beginning June 4, and will continuew until program requirements are met. Announcements, commodity specifications, and current invitations to bid can be found at the website listed below. Small buinsesses (500 employees or less) are encouraged to participate. The Agricultural Marketing Service is actively seeking small businesses that are also manufacturers, to participate in all its purchase programs.
