DESC: R-NOTICE OF INTENT TO AWARD A SOLE SOURCE PROCUREMENT WITH LEXIS CORPORATION. The National Park Service, Pacific Islands Support Office (NPS) intends to award a sole source purchase order to Lexis Corporation, 130-4611 Viking Way, Richmond, B.C., Canada, utilizing Simplified Acquisition Procedures (award will be less than $100,000). This requirement is for the turnkey automated fee collection services at two locations within Haleakala National Park, Island of Maui, Hawaii. Services provided shall include all labor, supervision, equipment, and incidentals necessary to furnish, install and maintain two fully operational automated electronic pay stations (Stations). Services to include weekly collection of revenues from Stations, regardless of the amount accumulated. Lexis will be responsible for all monies collected, including the security thereof, and responsible for any lost revenue or damage to Stations due to any cause, to include but not be limited to fire, theft, vandalism, or embezzlement. Monthly, Lexis will remit to the NPS the total for the preceding month's revenues. The NPS will then reimburse Lexis a percentage of that month's revenues for the cost of fee collection. Lexis will maintain a local phone number for notification of malfunction of pay stations and shall respond to trouble calls within 24 hours. Lexis will make repairs and return machine to service within 72 hours of receiving notifiation of malfunctioning Station. NPS intends to award a purchase order for one base year with a possible one year option. Lexis is the only known provider of this turnkey service. This is not a request for competitive proposals. However, all interested parties who believe they can meet this requirement are invited to submit in writing, complete information describing their ability to provide this service. Such information should include cost proposal information for providing this service. Responses may be mailed to the National Park Service, Haleakala National Park, P.O. Box 369, Makawao, HI. 96768, Attention: Contracting. Information received as a result of this notice will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. A determination by the NPS not to open the requirement to competition based on response to this notice is solely within the discretion of the NPS. If no affirmative written responses are received by close of business, June 8, 2001, a sole source purchase order will be pursued with Lexis Corporation.
