- Description
- The Navy is conducting a market survey to identify sources of polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) for potential use on watertight door panels used on U.S. Navy ships. The watertight doors are fabricated from either aluminum (ASTM B209) or steel (ASTM A569) and are subjected to corrosive environments. The Navy is interested in the potential use of PVDF materials for protecting the watertight doors since PVDF materials offer excellent weather resistance capabilities. This is a request for information only and is not a request for proposals or the announcement of a solicitation. U.S. and foreign firms interested in suggesting proposed PVDF materials and methods of application are requested to contact the Carderock Division, Naval Surface Warfare Center, Attn: Robert Redfern, Code 9782, 5001 South Broad Street, Philadelphia, PA 19112-1403.
