TACTICAL REMOTE ASSESSMENT/SURVEILLANCE RADAR (TRASR) The United States Air Force, Force Protection Battlelab at Lackland AFB, TX seeks sources and information, from government, industry and academia, related to capabilities for responding forces to detect personnel through walls, low light, and poor weather conditions. Specifically, the battlelab is looking for information in the following areas: A compact, hand-held, ruggedized, low-power unit capable of penetrating 8-inch masonry, reinforced masonry, concrete, reinforced concrete, and wood framed walls to detect motion and physiological signatures at a distance of at least 50-feet in an urban environment, and 200-feet in open terrain. The unit must alarm within 10-15 seconds, with either a visual (blinking or signal strength indicator) or audio signal with earpiece attachment. Prefer technology capability for integration with a computer system, using radio frequency technology (UHF or VHF). The purpose of this market survey/request for information is to investigate promising and innovative technologies in the areas of police services/emergency services teams, military operations in urban terrain, and operations during low-light or poor weather conditions. In order to initiate an exchange of information, the Force Protection Battlelab requests that interested parties submit any or both of the following: (1) An up to 10 page concept paper, with conceptual sketches if applicable, that identifies potential existing solutions. (2) Product brochures or marketing materials. This market survey/request for information is for planning purposes only, and shall not be construed as a request for proposal (RFP) or as an obligation on the part of the Government to acquire any follow-on acquisitions. The Government does not intend to award a contract on the basis of this market survey/request for information or otherwise pay for the information solicited. No entitlement to payment of direct or indirect costs or charges by the Government will arise as a result of the submission of responses to this market survey/request for information and the Government use of this information. The Government reserves the right to reject in whole or in part any industry input as a result of this Market Survey/Request for Information. This market survey/request for information does not constitute the solicitation of any proposals and authority to enter into negotiations to award a contract has not been authorized. Information provided may be used by the Department of Defense in developing its acquisition approach and its Statement of Objectives (SOO).
