Description

The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) intends to = negotiate with Thermionics Vacuum Products of Port Townsend, WA on a = sole source basis under the authority of FAR Part 13.106-1(b), = Soliciting from a single source, for the purchase of a Six axis (X, Y, = Z, Polar, Azimuthal, and Flip) Precision Manipulator with integral = sample heating and cooling, and in-vacuum sample transfer. All axes are = motorized and include precision positioning accessories. The = manipulator is specifically designed for horizontal mounting and = includes custom engineering assembly. The manipulator will be used at = the National Synchrotron Light Source beamline U7A and will be = constrained to fit an existing NIST soft X-ray materials = characterization facility. Extensive redesign and rebuilding of = existing control systems would be required to utilize any other = manipulator. The delivery time for this requirement is 16 to 18 weeks = after receipt of order and the delivery shall be FOB Destination, NIST = Brookhaven National Laboratory; Upton, NY. The Government anticipates = awarding a firm-fixed price purchase order. Interested persons may = identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement or = submit quotes by June 21, 2001. This notice of intent is not a request = for competitive quotes. A Request for Quotation (RFQ) package is not = available. The NAICS code for this requirement is 334516, with a size = standard of 500 employees. A determination by the Government not to = compete this requirement based upon responses to this notice is solely = within the discretion of the Contracting Officer.
