Description

The Board of Directors for Federal Prison Industries, Inc. (FPI) announces its intention to establish authorized FY 2002 production levels for five products made by FPI. FPI plans to maintain its current authorized production levels for systems furniture, office seating, office case goods and work clothing, permitting only an increase of 3% to account for inflation. This would be consistent with previous adjustments to FPI's annual sales ceilings made by the Board. Due to various sales and market factors, FPI's Board plans to leave the FY 2002 production level for protective clothing unchanged from its FY 2001 level. FPI's authorized production levels for each product will be (in millions): Systems Furniture, FY 2001 -- $ 133.9; FY 2002 -- $ 137.9. Office Seating, FY 2001 -- 110.0; FY 2002 -- 113.3. Office Case Goods, FY 2001 -- 70.0; FY 2002 -- 72.1. Work Clothing, FY 2001 -- 43.3; FY 2002 -- 44.6. Protective Clothing, FY 2001 -- 60.0; FY 2002 -- 60.0. FPI's Board of Directors plans to finalize the FY 2002 production levels at its meeting on July 25, 2001, subject to any comments received on this subject from interested parties. FPI's Board of Directors invites interested parties to submit written comments related to FPI's production of these products no later than July 2, 2001. All comments will be provided, unedited, to each member of FPI's Board of Directors.
