NIST 8/22/01 The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) is hosting an on-site Technology Expo that will take place on Wednesday, August 22, 2001 in Gaithersburg, Maryland. This expo will be advertised to all NIST personnel, including 3,300 scientists, engineers, technicians, and business personnel. About 1,500 visiting researchers compliment the staff. This is a high tech R & D facility with an annual budget of $800 million. NIST is one of only two federal laboratories to have its own annual authorization, have its own annual appropriation, and be headed by a Presidential appointee. NIST partners with 2,000 manufacturing specialists and staff at affiliated centers around the country. The $1.73 trillion Federal budget included $79.3 billion for Research & Development. At our last event at this location in August 2000 we attracted over 250 attendees! Requested technologies for this event include, but are not limited to: Data Acquisition/Conversion, Internet Access, Networking, LAN/WAN, Laptops, Notebooks, Peripherals, Communications Equipment, High-End Workstations, Computer-Aided Design, Artificial Intelligence, Real Time, Project/Database Management, Desktop Publishing, Virtual Reality, VTC, Multimedia, and Desktop Presentation Systems.
