Description

This project will consist of road reconstruction, structural fills and drainage on 3.900 km of roadway for Mad River Road -- CA PFH 149-1(1), in Six Rivers National Forest, Trinity County, State of California. Estimated price range is between $5,000,000 and $10,000,000. Principal work items include: lump sum contractor testing; 8 hectare clearing and grubbing; 35,000 m3 roadway excavation; 4,000 m3 structural excavation; 3,800 m3 rock buttress; 3,450 m3 grouted rock embankment; 400 m3 gabions, galvanized or aluminized coated; 121 m3 bridge work (2); 4 each precast, prestressed concrete structural members; 410 m2 MSE wall (welded wire face); 31,000 metric tons aggregate base; 4,800 metric tons hot asphalt concrete pavement, class B; 740 m pipe culvert (various); 1,600 m underdrain system; 8,000 hours flagger; 4,000 hours pilot car; erosion control mat; guardrail; fencing; heavy equipment operators (various); seeding; mulching; signing; pavement markings; and traffic control. The Department of Transportation (DOT) Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization (OSDBU), has programs to assist minority, women-owned and disadvantaged business enterprises to acquire short-term working capital and bonding assistance for transportation-related contracts. This is applicable to any eligible prime or subcontractor at any tier. The DOT Bonding Assistance Program enables firms to apply for bid, performance and payment bonds up to $1.0 million per contract. The DOT provides an 80% guaranty on the bond amount to a surety against losses. Loans are also available under the DOT Short Term Lending Program (STLP) at prime interest rates to provide accounts receivable financing. The maximum line of credit is $500,000.
