- ISSUE DATE: 7/11/01. Contractor shall provide all labor, materials, equipment, transportation, supervision, and disposal necessary for Waterfront Repairs at USCG Station Menemsha (Dukes County) =20 Work includes the following: 1) Replacement of 25 LF of timber curbing on the boathouse apron. 2) Replacement of some of the timber framing hardware under the boathouse including 53 steel strap assemblies connecting the piles to the pile caps, 200 steel twist straps connecting the stringers to the pile cap, and 20 pile cap splice bolt assemblies. 3) Provide a PVC wrap on seven timber piles to protect against marine borer activity. 4) Install pile caps on six timber piles on the east pier that the tops have been cut off flush with the deck. 5) Replace 76 LF of longitudinal waler on the east pier. 6) Replace cross bracing at three locations on the east pier; Bents 23, 24 and 25. 7) Remove 76 LF of longitudinal waler and cross bracing at three bents on the west pier and fill remaining holes with treated dowels. 8) Modify the existing bulkhead wall along the west side of the apron by lowering the wall by three feet along a 36 foot section. Estimated cost of this project is between $25,000 and $100,000 dollars. NAICS code is 234990. Solicitation packages to be available on or about 7/11/01. The bid opening date is on or about 08/03/01. This project is issued pursuant to the Small Business Competitiveness Demonstration Program, and is unrestricted. THE FOLLOWING NOTICE IS PROVIDED AS INFORMATION FOR MINORITY, WOMEN-OWNED, AND DISADVANTAGED BUSINESS ENTERPRISES: The Dept of Transportation (DOT) Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization (OSDBU) has programs to assist minority, women-owned and disadvantaged business enterprises to acquire short-term working capital and bonding assistance for transportation-related contracts. This is applicable to any eligible prime or subcontract at any tier. The DOT Bonding Assistance Program enables firms to apply for bid, payment and performance bonds up to $1.0 million per contract. The DOT provides an 80% guaranty on the bond amount to a surety against losses. Loans are available under the DOT Short-term Lending Program (STLP) at prime interest rates to provide accounts receivable financing. The max. Line of credit is $500,000.
