Description

The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) intends to negotiate, on a sole source basis, under authority of FAR 13.106-1(b)(1), with Pantak, Inc. of East Haven, CT, for the purchase, installation and certification of one (1) Comet MXR321 320kV 10mA X-ray tube.***Sole source determination is based on the following: (1) The Comet MXR321 tube is the only known x-ray tube that will meet the stringent requirements of the NIST x-ray calibration program and fit inside the tube shielded housing in the current Pantak system to ensure compatibility with the current x-ray generator, high voltage cables, x-ray controller and voltage divider; (2) Pantak does not manufacture their own x-ray tubes, but sells tubes that are specifically designed by Comet North America to work in their systems; (3) Pantak is the only dealer authorized by Comet North America to sell the MXR321 tube.***Delivery shall be FOB Destination, Gaithersburg, MD, and is required within 60 days after receipt of order.***The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code for this acquisition is 334517, and the size standard is 500 employees.***No solicitation package will be issued. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations; however, responses received by July 16, 2001, will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to compete the proposed acquisition based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
