Description

NASA/GSFC intends to purchase non-flight version Alignment Bars for the improvement of the Astro E X-Ray telescopes from Norman Noble in Highland Heights, OH. Norman Noble was selected because of their unique fixturing capibilities for Alignment Bars. The specifications are as follows: 1) Algnment Bars, 4.75M FL per drawing No. GE66327113; and the 60 A-Bars consist of the following distribution: 15 EA. -9 primary top 15 EA. -11 primary bottom 15 EA. -13 secondary top 15 EA. -13 secondary bottom. There are non-recurring tooling and program development charges. A copy of the drawings will be sent with the Request for Quote (RFQ) on or about 7/19/01 to all interested organizations. This procurement is being conducted under the Simplified Acquisition Procedures (SAP) The Government does not intend to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. See Note 26. Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform the effort in writing to the identified point of contact not later than 4:30 p.m. local time on 7/19/01. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and open competition basis, based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the government. Oral communications are not acceptable. All responsible sources may submit an offer which shall be considered by the agency. An Ombudsman has been appointed. See NASA Specific Note "B".
