Description

The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) intends to negotiate with Wissenschaftliche Elektronik GMBH (WissEl) of Starnberg Germany on a sole source basis under the authority of FAR Part 13.106-1(b), Soliciting from a single source, for the purchase of a Mossbauer System with a CEMS detector for room and low temperature experiments, Mossbauer He cryostat with a turbo molecular pump, Mossbauer furnace (up to 1100/1200 degrees Celsius), and a Mossbauer Source Co-57. WissEl is the only company that provides a Mossbauer Calibrator based on a HeNe laser interferometer. The HeNe laser interferometer is a key instrument that is required by a project group in the NIST Metallurgy Division. WissEl is also the only company that provides a complete system which satisfies all of the data acquisition specifications required for the project and direct servicing from the company. The anticipated delivery time for this requirement is 100 days after receipt of order and the delivery shall be FOB Destination to Gaithersburg, Maryland. The Government anticipates awarding a firm-fixed price purchase order. Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement or submit quotes by July 17, 2001. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotes. A Request for Quotation (RFQ) package is not available. The NAICS code for this requirement is 541690 with a size standard of $5.0 million. A determination by the Government not to compete this requirement based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Contracting Officer.
