- NASA/LaRC plans to issue a Request for Quote (RFQ) for Research on Improvements to Ozone Differential Absorption Lidar (DIAL) Lidar Systems. The contractor shall complete development (reports from previous development will be available upon request) and build a unique Ti-sapphire laser to serve as a replacement for the current dye lasers used in an airborne ozone lidar system. The Ti:sapphire laser shall be pumped by a pulsed 532 nm Nd:YAG laser. After third harmonic conversion, the output of the Ti:sapphire laser shallbe 50 mJ per pulse at either 289 nm or 300 nm (30Hz). The base period of performance shall be 6.5 months after receipt of order with a 1-year option period to develop a comprehensive model of the laser and compare modeled results to experimental results to guide optimization of laser performance. This procurement is being conducted under the Simplified Acquisition Procedures (SAP). The Government does not intend to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. See Note 26. The NAICS Code and Size Standard are 54171 and 1500 employees, respectively. The DPAS Rating for this procurement is DO C9.
