- Description
- The National Park Service, Department of Interior, is soliciting proposals for construction firms having the capability to perform the work described below. It is anticipated that this solicitation will be issued electronically on or about July 31, 2001, on the Department of Interior's National Business Center (NBC) web site, at http://ideasec.nbc.gov. Paper copies of this solicitation will not be made available. Prospective offerors desiring to conduct business with DOI are requested to register at the National Business Center. Proposal documents will be available in Microsoft Word, HTML and Adobe PDF, Specifications will be available in Adobe PDF format, and drawings will be available in TIFF format. Offerors wishing to receive electronic notification of changes will need to register to receive notification of this specific solicitation at http://ideasec.nbc.gov. This service is provided for convenience only and does not serve as a guarantee of notification. Subscribers to this service are ultimately responsible for reviewing the http://ideasec.nbc.gov site for all information relevant to this solicitation. Plan holders will be required to visit this website periodically to check for amendments and other changes to the contract documents. No other notifications will be sent. -- The work of this contract consists of emergency stabilization of (1) Annex 1 -- This portion of the project includes straightening and reinforcement of the existing stone masonry foundation wall, a new reinforced concrete retaining wall and a series of shear walls. The new reinforced concrete shear walls will serve dual duty, by acting as counterforts for the reinforced basement wall and as shear all elements for a lateral system upgrade. This includes restoration of plumb building walls and a partial lateral system installation. Subsurface drainage will also be addressed; (2) South Bridge -- Renovate/rehabilitate a portion of the roof and floor structural system. This will require jacking the bridge, footing excavations in the crawlspace, new concrete placement in the crawspace, repair of walls, as well as rehabilitation, if required, of the windows and door due to shifting. The floor and ceiling surfaces in the basement will be rehabilitated once the building is plumb; (3) Annex 2 -- Renovate the affected footings, floor, and wall areas. This will require jacking up the building as well as rehabilitating the affected wall and floor finishes; (4) Balcony replacement -- The existing balconies on the east side of Annex 1 and south end of Annex 2 will be rehabiliated with a steel support system. -- Estimated price range, $1,000,000 to $2,000,000. A pre-proposal site meeting will be held at Glacier National Park, Many Glacier Hotel, East Glacier, Montana. The Contracting Officer will request coordination of exact meeting time and date when actual advertising date is set. -- Time for completion, 100 calendar days. Proposal receipt date is approximate; actual date will be established at the time bidding documents are available. -- All responsible sources may submit an offer which will be considered.
