Description

It is the intent of the National Library of Medicine (NLM) to procure professional services for modification of OCLC (Online Computer Library Center) records using NLM data. The NLM requires assistance in: (a) modifying and authenticating as CONSER records approximately 200-300 OCLC WorldCat records for serials using data from NLM's online database; (b) modifying approximately 250-459 CONSER records in the OCLC WorldCat using data from NLM's online database; (c) modifying approximately 225-405 OCLC WorldCat records for serials to add linking and other data; and (d) updating approximately 100-250 OCLC WorldCat records for serials by adding or changing indexing coverage notes. Substantial experience in editing bibliographic records in the OCLC system is required, as well as thorough knowledge of the MARC format as documented in MARC 21 Format for Bibliographic Data. Knowledge of the CONSER requirements for MARC coding as documented in the CONSER Editing Guide, 1994 edition, and its updates is highly desirable. This service will procure under FAR Part 13 (Simplified Acquisitions). Request for Quotations (RFQ) Number NLM 01-168/UHP will be available on or about July 27, 2001.
