Description

The U. S. Department of Agriculture, Agricultural Research Service, Midwest Area, has a project entitled Machine Shed Addition at the North Central Regional Plant Introduction Station, Ames, IA, This Request for Proposal will have a Base Bid, and 2 Additives. The base bid work includes but is not limited to: furnishing all labor, supervision, materials, tools, equipment, transportation, and other necessary work for a new 50' X 75' X 16' eave height pre-engineered metal building, with concrete foundation, addition to an existing metal building. Extension of an existing dry pipe sprinkler system into the new metal building addition. Replacing the existing distribution panel and conductors back to a central service entrance. Addition of a new sub-panel to feed the new metal building addition power requirement. Additive 001 will be for construction of two seed drying rooms, each containing six individual seed drying compartments. Each seed drying room to be fed by a single indirect fired gas heater and blower. Additive 002 will be a temperature and humidity controlled seed storage space. The Magnitude of Construction is estimated between $100,000 to $250,000. The period of performance for the base bid will be 90 calendar days, 30 days each for each of the additives, after receipt of Notice to Proceed , estimated to be issued September 2001). A Bid Bond for the total of the base bid and additives, as well as Performance and Payment Bonds shall be required. The solicitation will be issued as Request for Proposal No. 5114-1-0012 and will be available on or about July 30, 2001, with proposals to be received not later than 2:00 p.m. (CST), August 29, 2001. The solicitation is issued pursuant to full and open competition and is unrestricted. National American Industrial Classification Code of 233310, with a corresponding size standard of $27.5 M.
