- Description
- NOTICE TYPE: Solicitation NOTICE DATED: 07/19/2001 OFFICE ADDRESS: Bechtel BWXT Idaho, LLC (BBWI), P. O. Box 1625, Idaho Falls, ID 83415-3805. ZIPCODE: 83415-3521 SUBJECT: A -- Solar dehumidifier technology. SOLICITATION NO.: SOL S-10 RESPONSE DEADLINE: DUE 08/30/2001 CONTACT: POC Paul Grahovac. NOTICE TEXT: A -- Solar dehumidifier technology. This is a potential technology development, exclusive patent licensing, and commercialization opportunity with Bechtel BWXT Idaho, LLC (BBWI), the prime operating contractor for the Department of Energy at the Idaho National Engineering and Environmental Laboratory (INEEL). BBWI seeks an industry partner to co-develop, license, and commercialize solar dehumidifier technology BBWI seeks to develop. BBWI proposes a three-way collaboration between BBWI, the industry partner, and a solar energy laboratory that is a subcontractor on a current BBWI project. The proposed project would evaluate techniques previously identified by others, and develop, design, and fabricate an integrated, low-cost, low-maintenance system for dehumidifying building air. Dehumidification is a significant part of the air conditioning load in humid weather. With growing concerns about electrical power shortages, a system like the one envisioned should provide homeowners with an alternative to complete reliance on electrical power and decrease the demands on power generation infrastructure. BBWI brings demonstrated applied engineering, systems integration, and industrial packaging experience to this project and is very focused on producing a commercializable product. The proposed industry partner would be expected to provide solar or HVAC expertise and or project funding support. This is not an opportunity to provide goods or services to BBWI or the Department of Energy. This Request for Interest (RFI) will close to response 30 days after publication. Interested parties should send e-mail to pg2@inel.gov (Paul Grahovac, Senior Account Executive, Technology Transfer & Commercialization, BBWI). If you do not have e-mail access, send regular mail to Paul Grahovac, Senior Account Executive, Technology Transfer & Commercialization, BBWI, P. O. Box 1625, Idaho Falls, ID 83415-3805.
