Description

The Social Security Administration (SSA) intends to negotiate a sole source acquisition with Logiplex Corporation, 1505 N. Bryant St., Portland, OR 97217 to provide SSA with equipment to enhance security in the SSA National Computer Center (NCC) Building in Baltimore, MD. This equipment will secure all critical utilities (e.g. electric, LAN, HVAC) greatly reducing the risk of lost power or communications due to vandalism and enable the SSA Security Staff to monitor access to these critical areas. SSA currently uses Logiplex Corporation's Facilities/Security Management System registered software to monitor the intrusion detection and card access systems in the Emergency Control Command (ECCC) in the NCC building. Logiplex Corporation designs their own software and hardware devices and holds the patent on a unique type of transmission technology. Logiplex Corporation is the only known source capable of providing the required equipment. This acquisition is determined to be subject to Part 12 of the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) regarding the acquisition of commercial items and will also be conducted subject to Part 13 of the FAR regarding the application of simplified acquisition procedures. Interested parties that believe they have the ability to provide SSA with this required equipment can identify their capability to Stephen Slaughter, Contracting Officer, via e-mail at stephen.slaughter@ssa.gov. Responses must be received by no later than 3:00 p.m., local prevailing time on Thursday, July 26, 2001. The Government will consider all responses but a determination by the Government not to compete this action is solely under the discretion of the Government. This is neither a request for quotation nor an announcement of a forthcoming solicitation. Requests for copies of a solicitation will not be honored or acknowledged. The Government does not intend to pay for in formation received. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive acquisition. If no viable responses are received by 3:00 p.m., local prevailing time on Thursday, July 26, 2001, the Government will issue a purchase order to Logiplex Corporation. =20
