Description

Lockheed Martin, the prime contractor for the U.S. General Accounting Office Information Handling and Support Facility (IHSF), will purchase a Machine Aided Indexing Software system that will generate subject terms for GAO products. The software will import the full text of a GAO document, evaluate the content with respect to GAO's list of 3,000 approved subject terms, and propose candidate subject terms to the user. GAO documents include reports to Congress and legal decisions. Examples can be found at www.gao.gov. The deliverables will include the software, installation on GAO computers in Washington, DC, integration into the GAO desktop in Washington, DC, training, documentation, and the development of the rules that will enable the software to produce candidate subject terms that would match a human indexer 80% of the time. Full implementation of machine aided indexing operations requires the following items: software, vendor travel, installation, computer operations, training, hotline support, project management, programming, and complex rule building.
