Description
The United States Marine Corps (USMC) intends to issue a Request For Proposal (RFP) in January 2002 for the Follow-On To SMAW (FOTS) Program: Systems Integration & Prototyping (SIP). It is anticipated that from all offerors, two to three proposals will be selected and awarded a SIP contract; each with an estimated value of $1,000,000.00. At the conclusion of the SIP effort, one of the successful offerors will be competitively selected for continuation into System Demonstration and Production, with an estimated value of $681,000,000 over the 20 year life cycle of the program. The USMC intends to procure approximately 1200 systems and/or 100,000 rounds of ammunition It is anticipated that the RFP will require: 1) A complete system description meeting USMC requirements. 2) A technical description of the technologies being utilized in the FOTS concept, including technical performance tradeoff analyses. 3) A SIP proposed Statement of Work (SOW), cost, and schedule to design, fabricate and test the FOTS prototypes including technology sources (sub-contractors). 4) Estimated schedule and cost to conduct System Demonstration and Production. Low-Rate Initial Production (LRIP) and Full-Rate Production (FRP) estimated average unit costs are to be included. 5) Risk Assessment for Cost, Schedule, and Performance. Program information is available to interested parties on the FOTS Program website located on the Internet at http://fots.na.baesystems.com/. General information is available and unrestricted. Detailed technical information; to include operational requirements, system safety requirements, and government test reports from the Technology and Concept Development Phase (ongoing); is restricted and access will be granted by the USMC via the point of contact specified on the website.
