Description

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, (CMS) formerly known as The Health Care Financing Administration intends to procure a workshop entitled "Hispanic Technical Assistance Workshop" on a sole source basis to The University of Texas at San Antonio Metropolitan Research & Policy Institute, 7703 Floyd Curl Drive, San Antonio, Texas 78229-3900. The workshop is a partnership between CMS and University of Texas at San Antonio, Metropolitan Research & Policy Institute. CMS is parterning with this Hispanic Serving Institution, (HSI) to 1)increase the number of under-represented Hispanic American investigators with the basic skills needed to begin ocllaborating in or conducting minority research that uses CMS data sets; 2)orient Hispanic American researchers in understanding CMS's Medicare and Medicaid data sets; 3)provide for the education of Hispanic researchers in the proper acquisition and use of CMS files in data content inlcuding file layouts and data field definitions, and in manipulation and use of CMS data for research purposes; 4)provide hands on experience with using CMS data sets to answer research questions; 5)increase Hispanic researchers technical skills and ability to conduct minority health services research; and 6)encourage cross-institutional collaboration focusing on using CMS data. Hispanic researchers from the Western and Southwestern State will attend the workshop. All responsible sources may submit capability statement ofr consideration to the Agency at the above address. If no responses are received within 15 calendar days from the published date of this notice, a purchase order shall be awarded to the Univesity of Texas at San Antonio. See Numbered Note 22
