Description

The Social Security Administration (SSA) is seeking sources capable of providing the agency with IBM plug-compatible mainframe computers. It is the SSA's understanding that there are no longer any third party IBM plug-compatible computer mainframe manufacturers in the market place. If this is not a correct assumption then any IBM plug-compatible mainframe computer manufacturer should contact the Office of Acquisition and Grants at the address indicated in this notice. Such a manufacturer should identify or confirm the product lines currently being manufactured, the capacity of these products, the fact that they are IBM compatible and the place they are manufactured. (SSA is looking for IBM plug-compatible Complementary Metal Oxide Silicon (CMOS) processor with a minimum capacity rating of 1200 MIPs) Interested vendors must be able to provide verifiable proof by submitting information in sufficient detail to demonstrate their ability to meet the Agencies requirement. Vendors responding should indicate whether their products are available on GSA Schedule. This is not a request for proposal and the Government does not intend to pay for information submitted. Respondents will not be notified of the results of the evaluation of the data received. No contract award will be made on the basis of responses received; however, the information will be used in SSAs assessment of capable sources. All responsible sources should visit the following SSA website: http://www.ssa.gov/oag/acq/oag_acquisition.htm and complete the Section 508 evaluation template and submit it with their response to this announcement. Responses to this notice should be submitted in duplicate by 8/24/01 and should refer to IBM Mainframe. Requests for copies of a solicitation will not be honored or acknowledged.
