Description

THIS SOLICITATION IS A "REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL" AND RESPONSES ARE DUE BY CLOSE OF BUSINESS (4:30 PM) ON SEPTEMBER 10, 2001. On the Placerville District of the Eldorado National Forest there are 301 acres of thinning and brush mastication (DOGTOWN) and 99 acres of mastication (STEELY). The intent of this project is to reduce stocking levels down to 175 trees per acre, promote growth and to make the plantations more fire-resilient. These plantations are currently 12 years old, mixed conifer and have approximately 300-1,178 trees per acre, Brush ranges from 3-9 feet tall, this will be accomplished by cutting undesirable trees. The brush will be masticated with a low ground pressure machine not to exceed 6 psi, with low impact. This type of treatment will reduce the brush and undersable trees down to ground level. There will be no pre-proposal meeting or tour. Interested parties are encouraged to view project sites: From Placerville take Highway 50 East for approx. 11 miles, take the Cedar Grove Exit, turn right on Eight Mile Road, take the first driveway to your right. That is the Placerville Ranger District, for detail maps and information on how to get to the Dogtown and Bear Timber Sale areas. DOGTOWN is located within T.9N, R.14E, Sec 13, 14, 21, 22, 23, 24 & 28.STEELY is located within T. 9N, R.14E, Sec 14, 15, 16 17, 19, 20.
