- Description
- GREEN BUILDING-The project is located in Bushkill PA along the Bushkill Falls Rd., Route 209, approximately two (2) miles northeast from Bushkill Falls scenic attraction. The project is designed as a sustainable (green) project to achieve a U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), LEED (Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design) Certified Rating. It is the goal of the United States Postal Service to achieve a LEED Platinum rating. Firms interested in submitting proposals should be familiar with USGBC LEED Certification, sustainable design construction, renewable and recycled materials, indoor air quality management, construction waste management, and building commissioning. This project will involve a close relationship with the USPS, the A/E firm, and the successful general contractor to achieve the project goals and objectives. This will be the first "Green" post office in the State of Pennsylvania. The building is approximately 5,827 SF on a site that covers 3.39 wooded acres designed to minimize site disturbance. Site construction involves porous asphalt paving, recycled rubber walks, under ground detention system, several storm water management strategies to minimize collection, on-site sand mound septic system, beneficial landscape design and maintenance, etc. The building construction will utilize structural insulated wall and roof panels, steel/wood framing systems, wood stud partitions, reclaimed hemlock barn siding, fiber cement siding/trim, recycled steel shingles, energy efficient thermal window systems, insulated translucent sandwich panels and skylights, glass storefront systems, daylighting clerestory, low or no VOC interior finish materials, linoleum flooring, recycled tire floor grates, plastic toilet partitions, recycled plastic signage, loading dock equipment. Mechanical and plumbing systems will include a closed loop vertical geothermal heat pump system, exposed sheet metal ductwork, ultra low flush water closets, and waterless urinals, etc. Electrical systems will include power and energy efficient direct/indirect light distribution, fire alarm system, surface mounted raceways, bollard and site lighting, individual metering of panels, etc. Several sustainable design strategies will be proposed as add/deduct alternates to the base design. Special attention should be given to sustainable design specification sections such as Section 01140-Sustainable Architecture Requirements. The pre-proposal conference is scheduled on Tuesday, August 21st @1:00 PM, at 1425 Crooked Hill Rd, Conference Room #124, Harrisburg PA 17107, for directions call (717) 257-4838. The estimated price range is between $900,000 and $950,000 with completion within 180 calendar days after receipt of the Notice to Proceed.
