Description

The contract work consists of restoring the aquatic cosystem by reducing the negative effects of acid mine drainage resulting from abandoned coal mines in the Ely and Puckett Creek Basin. There are three (3) separate sites for this project -- Everglades Site, Bog Site and Big Branch Site. Each site has a series of equalization basins, successive e alkalinity producing systems, ponds, channels, and wetlands. Building of restoration systems will consist primarily of excavation and grading, placement of organic compost, riprap and stone aggregate, installation of pipes, fencing, geomembranes and geotextiles, and seeding. The project is located in Lee County Virginia, about 5 miles northeast of Pennington Gap, Virginia. The solicitation documents will be available on or about 20 August 2001; hard copies will not be available. Contractors may view and/or download this solicitation and all amendments from the internet at the following address: http://www.orn.usace.army.mil on or after issue date of the solicitation. Bidders are responsible for printing paper copies of the solicitation. Bids will be opened on or about 20 September 2001 at 2:00 pm. Completion time for this project is 365 days. This project is 100% Small Business Set-Aside. The NAICS Code is 234990 with a size standard of $27.5 Million Dollars. The project range is $1,000,000.00 to $5,000,000.00 and bonding is required.
