Description

This project consists of all labor and work involved in the construction of rock buttresses for slope stabilization on roads throughout the Thorne Bay Ranger District. Work will involve the removal and haul of unsuitable material from road slides and slumps, restoration of ditches and drainage structures, hauling and placement of rock for the construction of rock buttress, mobilization and all incidental items related to the above work. The project is located on the Thorne Bay Ranger District on the Tongass National Forest. All work will be on Prince of Wales Island from the area around the city of Thorne Bay, Alaska, north to the areas around Red Bay on the north end of Prince of Wales Island. Prince of Wales Island is accessible by boat, floatplane, and the Alaska Marine Highway system at Hollis, Alaska. The contract time will be 60 calendar days. Estimated price range for the project is between $100,000 and $250,000. The solicitation will be posted to our web site (URL address shown below) for downloading by C.O.B. on August 23, 2001.
