Description

Small Arms Precision Gages. TACOM-Rock Island is soliciting information from industry to determine the current manufacturing capability to fabricate and deliver a variety of precision small arms gages in accordance with the Government Technical Data Package and strict quality inspection requirements. The information gathered during this market survey will be used to determine the affordability and quality aspects of going to commercial contractors for small arms gages. This is a market survey announcement for informational planning purposes only and does not constitute a Request for Proposals or Invitation for Bids nor is it to be construed as a commitment by the Government. Information submitted does not constitute a proposal, but will be considered an exchange of capabilities and ideas. Any proprietary information should be properly identified. The Government will not reimburse contractors for any costs incurred in responding to this announcement, or in subsequent exchanges of information. Information is being sought on product capabilities, suppliers' capabilities, quality controls, and business practices. As part of this market research, any qualified sources are invited to submit a test sample (1 each) of any or all of the following gages: M249 SAW Firing Pin Gage, NSN: 5220-01-141-4732, PN: 9350104; M60 MG Breech bore Gage, NSN: 5210-00-317-2504, PN: 7319994; M16 Rifle Headspace Gage, NSN: 5220-00-070-7814, PN: 7799734; M60 MG Test Bolt, NSN: 6695-00-653-9950, PN: 7799699. Gages should be checked with standards traceable to the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), up to and including class XX standard gage makers tolerances. Sample gage(s) shall be submitted to the following address: U.S. Army TMDE Support Center, ATTN: AMSAM-TMD-B-LRI/Mr. John Vest, Building 131, 2nd Floor, Rock Island, Illinois 61299-7430. Interested companies should respond to this announcement by submitting test sample gage(s), product descriptions of their commercial items, a record of inspection/test results of all characteristics listed on the associated Quality Assurance Provisions for each sample gage, and completing a Market Survey Questionnaire. A Market Survey Questionnaire is required for any or all items of interest to your company. In addition, price and availability data is required for FOB Destination delivery of the gages listed to the Rock Island Arsenal. The price and availability data should be based on the Government's estimated quantities for a three-year period (FY02, FY03, FY04) as shown on the gage listing.
