Description
The Air Force Systems Network (AFSN) program intends to select products for a virtual private network remote access capability that will be identified as a Preferred Product VPN RAS solution for the Air Force Enterprise. Once selected, this standardized VPN RAS solution will be procured by various AF activities such as AFSN, the CITS program, MAJCOM SCs, and others, using existing GSA and other contract vehicles. The Air Force will use this capability worldwide and it must support a broad spectrum of connectivity options such as connecting through the Internet, Department of Defense Intranet (NIPRNET), and dialup services from countries outside the United States. The product, or family of products, should allow the Air Force to extend common unclassified data services such as e-mail, web, and file sharing to these users using authentication and strong encryption to ensure the security and integrity of data. A VPN RAS solution for the AF Enterprise must possess the following attributes: Federal Information Processing; Standards (FIPS) 140-1 level 1 compliant; Client Software support for Windows 95/98/ME/NT/2000; Remote management capability via SNMP; Remote management capability via Web Browser; Tunneling Protocols: IPSEC w/ AH and ESP; Encryption capability: DES/3 DES, with MD5 and SHA-1; Key Management: IKE/ISAKMP; X.509v3 Digital Certificate Support; Product or family of products supporting small (200 users), medium (1000 users), and large (5000 users) numbers of simultaneous connections and 4, 50, and 100 Mb/s encrypted thru-put respectively; Authentication and Accounting: RADIUS; Operate over connectivity provided by dial up connections, commercial Internet Service Providers, and the Internet. Product evaluation will be conducted by the Air Force Systems Networking Program Management Office, HQ SSG/DIH, 501 East Moore Drive, Bldg 884, MAFB-Gunter Annex, AL 36114.
