NASA/GRC plans to issue a Request for Quotation (RFQ) for One (1) each of a 1200 pound CSA suspension unit including air tanks, hoses and control panels. (A SYSTEM WITH 3 UNITS). This procurement is being conducted under the Simplified Acquisition Procedures (SAP). NASA/GRC intends to purchase the items from CSA Engineering Co., 2565 Leghorn St., Mountain View, California 94043-1613. PER NASA AND FAR REGULATIONS THIS PROCUREMENT SHALL BE PLACED ON A SOLE SOURCE BASIS,(FAR 13.602, 4.8, GRC-P3.9.2.2). All components/parts of this procurement must be compatible with existing equipment and calibration of equipment already on site at the Glenn Research Center. Due to some proprietary information about some of the components known only to CSA, we know of no other source able to quote this exact equipment. The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform the effort in writing to the identified point of contact, Dennis D. Pehotsky at the NASA Glenn Research Center, 21000 Brookpark Rd., MS 500-319, Cleveland, OH 44135 not later than 4:30 p.m. local time on 8-22-01.NO EXCEPTIONS!! Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and open competition basis, based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the government. Oral communications are not acceptable in response to this notice. NO EXCEPTIONS!! All responsible sources may submit an offer which shall be considered by the agency.
