Description
The purpose of this amendment is to address Questions received as a result of solicitation PR 1-1-E3-D5452. The questions and answers are provided below: QUESTION 1: On solicitation number 8-1-1-E3-D5452 I wanted to add that the cryoplex 8 system fits form, fit and function of the CTI. I wanted to make sure that you knew that (another company) makes the exact same pump and works the exact same way. ANSWER 1: As long as the pump you are providing is "equivalent" to the one identified in the solicitation, there is no problem. QUESTION 2: Do you have a preferred manufacturer for this cryo pump? Is there an existing unit or units from a specific manufacturer which you would like us to try to duplicate in our bid? ANSWER 2: This requirement is opened up for competitive quotes. Should you have direct questions concerning this proposed requirement, please respond to me with specific questions. QUESTION 3: The solicitation is for 2 CTI-8 pumps, "flat" or "standard" models are not specified. Is there any preference as to the form of the pump? Will UNUSED surplus pumps be considered for this solicitation? Will equivalent models be considered for this solicitation: specifically the solicattion calls for model 8200 compressor. (Another firm) would like to quote model 8510 compressors. There is no difference in the functionality of either unit. The model (another firm) would like to quote is set up so that one compressor can run multiple pumps, allowing for greater versatility, later on, if need be. ANSWER 3: According to our technical staff, the Government was interested in the "standard" cryopumps; however, flat would work too. Always, equivalents are acceptable. In response to "unused surplus pumps," they would have to be warrantied as if they were new. We need one piece for every cryopump. It is the Government's understanding that compressors can be purchased which will run two pumps at one time. QUESTION 4: Can you provide some type clarification as to what is expected per "set." ANSWER 4: It is supposed to be a set of 2 cryo pumps, and a set of 2 remote temp indicators. QUESTION 5: I need to know if the quantity is for 2 cryopumps or if it is for 1. The description is saying "two" but the quantity under the online RFQ is saying one. Please clarify. ANSWER 5: The narrative description annotates 2. They view it as one set. I hope this clarifies your question. As a result of this amendment, the closing date is extended to COB September 6, 2001. Quotations received after this time will be considered late, and will be handled accordingly. You are reminded that all quotations need to be sent electronically.
