Description

Sources Sought: The U.S. Dept. of Commerce, NOAA intends to procure Biological Laboratory Services for the analysis of shrimp samples taken from the U.S. Gulf of Mexico to test for the presence of White Spot Syndrom Virus (WSSV). The shrimp samples shall be pooled and tested for the presence of WSSV using Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) Assays. Each pooled sample shall be run using the PCR procedure as outlined in Lo et al. 1996. Any samples testing positive using PCR shall be verified by a second method; (as appropriate for the pathogen detected and as provided as a suitable method for confirmation as outlined in the 2000 edition of the Office of International Des Epizooties Manual for Diagnosis of Aquatic Animal Diseases). Once the sample has been verified as positive by a second approved method, then the infectivity/virulence of the agent shall be determined by bioassay with an appropriate life stage of susceptible line or species of Specific Pathogen Free (SPF) shrimp. All interested parties must respond to this announcement no later then September 11, 2001. Award shall be made no later then September 23, 2001. This is not a set-aside for small business. This procurement is being conducted under Simplified Acquisition Procedures of FAR Part 13. The Standard Industrial Classification Code is: 8734.=20
