Description

The National Oceanic & Atmospheric Admin. (NOAA) has a requirement for two motor assemblies which meet the following specifications. 1) Power source: bipolar drive with approximately eight ampers maximum current, e.g.. Parker Compumotor Zeta drive; 2) Torque at 30 revolutions per minute;3) step angle: 1.8 degree and 3 percent accuracy; 4) the stainless steel motor will be oil filled and pressure equalized. Planetary gearboxes which have backlash specification of 3 Arc minutes for the 10:1 ration and 5 Arc minutes for the 28:1 ration will be attached to the motor as an assembly; 5) The assembly also includes a brake and a pressure compensating piston; 6) The flange will provide a mounting for the assembly and; 7) The 25 foot cable on the motor will be a four wire configuration suitable for use with a bipolar drive. It is the intent of the Government to award this procurement on a sole source basis under authority of 41 U.S.C.253(c)(1) with Empire Magnetics, Inc., to meet compatibility criteria on previous motors. This procurement is being conducted per FAR Part 13, Simplified Acquisition Procedures (NTE $100,000). This synopsis is issued for information only. No competitive solicitation is planned. Information submitted in response to this notice will be used solely to determine whether or not use of competitive procedures to fulfill this requirement would be in the Government's best interest and must address qualifications pertinent to this requirement.
