Description

The Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) intends to enter into negotiations with Silicon Graphics, Inc. (SGI), on a sole source basis for software and hardware support for two SGI Challenge "L" Servers located at the NRC Technical Training Center (TTC) in Chattanooga, TN. The TTC uses a variety of workstations and servers manufactured by SGI as development and computation platforms for the Nuclear Engineering Workstation (NEWS), the BWR/4 simulator Safety Parameter Display Station (SPDS), the Combustion Engineering simulator's main simulation computer, and as the file servers for TTC's simulator engineering network. As manufacturer of the proprietary hardware and software used in the computers, SGI will provide software updates to the workstation systems and attendant development tools used by TTC's engineers and provide hardware support unavailable from other sources to the servers systems. The Government intends to negotiate solely with Silicon Graphics, Inc. , 5800 Explorer Drive, Suite 1, Mississauga, Canada, for a firm fixed priced requirement purchase order. This is a commercial item. The period of performance is one year.
