Description

NASA/GRC plans to issue a Request for Quotation (RFQ) for a dual laser-head, Q-switched, pulsed laser (15 HZ laser with PIV head, 532 NM, 200 MJ) for particle image velocimetry experiments. This procurement is being conducted under the Simplified Acquisition Procedures (SAP). NASA/GRC intends to purchase the items from New Wave Research. New Wave Research was selected in order to maintain uniformity of data exchange among NASA GRC researchers who are also using the New Wave Research lasers to compare data to experimental systems. The New Wave Research model number is Gemini 200- PIV 15. The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and open competition basis, based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the government. Oral communications are not acceptable in response to this notice. An Ombudsman has been appointed. See NASA Specific Note "B".
