Description

The Naval Surface Warfare Center, Dahlgren Division (NSWCDD) awarded contract N00178-99-D-1005 on 11 January 1999 to provide Reactive Material Enhanced Warhead (RMEW) research under an Advanced Technology Demonstration (ATD) program for a three year period ending 10 January 2002. There is a continuing need for the support of the ATD effort for another three years with a corresponding increase in the contract ceiling. Therefore, NSWCDD intends to negotiate on a sole source basis a modification to the existing contract with DE Technologies, Inc., 3620 Horizon Drive, King of Prussia, PA 19406-2647. DE Technologies is the only firm with the current specialized capability and experience in the area of RMEW to continue the research effort without major delays and potential significant overall cost impacts to the NSWCDD's RMEW efforts. This revolutionary concept involves highly specialized experience in the areas of fragment launch simulation, warhead development, systems engineering, design engineering, fragment and warhead design analysis, warhead design development, component and warhead fabrication, experienced in the techniques to explosively launch the material at required ATD velocities, expertise in precision machining of specific reactive material, an understanding of the reactive material processing, and possess expertise in explosive testing for characterization and performance tests. DE Technologies currently provides all these unique and highly specialized skills in support of the ongoing RMEW research at NSWCDD.
