Description

The Federal Bureau of Investigation intends to negotiate a sole source, firm-fixed price contract with Mine Safety Appliances, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, under Request for Quote (RFQ) 0026490. This notice will be distributed solely through the General Services Administration's Federal Business Opportunities (FBO) web site http://www.fedbisopps.gov. Interested parties are responsible for monitoring the FBO site to ensure that they have the most up-to-date information about this acquisition. Mine Safety Appliances is to provide the following items: 200 each, MCU-2A/P Mask kits containing MCU-2A/P mask, clear outserts, tinted outserts, NBC hood, and carrier. FOB- Origin, FBI Academy, HRT Building, Quantico, Virginia, 22135. Based on market research via discussions with DoD, it has been determined that with the FBI's requirements for the above equipment being compatible with the DoD, only Mine Safety Appliances, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, can provide the needed equipment. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. However, interested parties may identify their interests and capability to respond to this requirement or submit proposals to this office by 2:00 PM, EDT, Monday, September 24, 2001, via facsimile to the attention of Ms. Theresa M. Powell, Contracting Officer, (703) 632-1607. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. The North American Industrial Classification System number is 421830, the size standard is 100 employees. This contract will be awarded as a commercial item in accordance with the Federal Acquisition Regulation, Part 12. Telephone requests will not be accepted. See Note 22.
