Description

The National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences intends to award a sole source purchase order to Amersham Pharmacia Biotech, Piscataway, NJ, pursuant to 41 U.S.C.253(c)(1) -- Only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements. This procurement is for the purchase of 1 each of the following commercial item: #13396201 (S) AKTA-FPLC w/Frac950. This system has the following specifications: 1) Allow researcher to purify biomolecules from complex materials derived from a variety of biological sources, 2) Flow rates must range from .05 to 20 ml/min at pressure ranging from 0-700psi. The pump system must be dual with dynamic mixing, 3) controller must allow programs to be time-based, volume-based or column-volume based, 4) controller must accept seven input signals, including UV, conductivity, pH, temperature and pressure, 5) Column equilibration before and after sample injection and elution must be capable of being monitored with a feed back loop to the control system, and 6) To facilitate cleaning, storage and column selection and for maximal automation, the system must have the ability to control nine motorized valves which is necessary for column and buffer selection, flow reversal, multi-dimensional chromatography, etc. All responsible sources may respond by submitting a written narrative statement of capability within 7 days of date of notice to Dee Lunney at the above address for consideration by the agency. Response must include detailed technical information and other technical literature demonstrating the ability to meet these requirements. Responses shall also include itemized pricing that is sufficient to make a determination that competition is feasible. If no affirmative responses are received within 7 days of this notice to determine whether a qualified source is more advantageous to the Government, an order will be placed with the Amersham Pharmacia Biotech. The NAICS Code/Size is 334516/500EM. This procurement is to be processed using Simplified Acquisition Procedures.
