THIS NOTICE CONSTITUTES AMENDMENT NO. 2 TO THE COMBINED SYNOPSIS/RFQ FOR Lumber, Sitka Spruce. Companies shall acknowledge all amendment(s) in their quote. This notice serves as the official amendment to subject synopsis/RFQ and a written amendment will not be issued. The purpose of this amendment is to answer the following technical questions: Question No. 1: Why must this material be from "Alaskan Grown" sources only? Answer No. 1: The material must be of "Alaskan Growth" because the climate is colder thus producing a slower growth rate. In turn you get tighter growth rings which results in a much superior strength to weight ratio. Question No. 2: Specification note (d) states "Lumber shall be air dryed" -- As air drying is a function of time, please clarify if there is any moisture content requirements. Answer No. 2: Air dryed is correct and to a moisture content between 6 percent and 12 percent. The due date for receipt of offers is extended to September 19, 2001. Companies shall provide the information stated in the synopsis/RFQ posted on the NASA Acquisition Internet Service (NAIS) on September 19, 2001. Documents related to this procurement are available over the Internet and are in Microsoft Office 97 format and reside on the World Wide Web (WWW) server which may be accessed using a WWW browser application.
