Description

DESCRIPTION: The U. S. Army Tank-automotive and Armaments Command (TACOM) is planning to procure up to 4 each Small Tugs (ST) from Orange Shipbuilding (OSB) of Orange, Texas. The Small tug is a 60' vessel, which is capable of moving cargo barges and lighterage of various types within a harbor, port or Logistics-Over-the Shore (LOTS) anchorage. It is shallow draft (6') with enough horsepower to tow and husband Lighter Aboard Ship (LASH) barges and general cargo harbors, inland waterways and along coastlines. It is capable of operation in Sea State 3 and is transportable aboard LASH barges ships or other heavy lift vessels. The Small Tug also assists larger tugs with utility work such as docking and undocking of ships of all sizes, movement of floating cranes and line-handling duties.
