- This notice issued to provide the following information which addresses all questions received as a result of the synopsis/solicitation issued under solicitation DAKF04-01-Q-0086 on 18 September 2001 via FedBizOps and the Commerce Business Daily. All resp ondents must acknowledge this notice in their submission. Solicitation closing date is hereby extended to NLT 2:00 PM PST, 25 October 2001. QUESTION 1: a. The 20 containers (11) SOL DAKF04-01-Q-0086 Are these required to be NEW or may a One time used Cargo container be used? b. Can Steel studs be substituted for the 1 x 3 studs.? c. Is electrical conduit is to be surface mounted? ANSWER: (a) Regarding the condition of the containers, they be one-time used containers in like new condition. (b) Steel studs may be used. (c) Electrical conduit may be surface-mounted. QUESTION 2: Having reviewed most aspects of the specifications for the Temporary Office Space RFQ I d like to ask for your clarification regarding the following items: a. Re: The shipping container May we use a new steel container as specified that has contained freight one time while on its delivery to our fabrication site: b. Re: The polystyrene rigid board This type of rigid insulation board typically carries an R value of about 5 per inch of thickness. At 1 inch thick as specified, the 1 in board in paragraph b falls short of the R-11 requirement in paragraph c. c. Re: Steel doors with deadbolts Although not requested, a lockset should be included for each of the 3 doors. d. Re: Central HVAC We would propose using a Westinghouse, Model number 4YG98 240V heating and cooling unit. This unit exceeds both the heating and cooling requirements for an office space of 160 square feet. ANSWER: (a) One-time used containers in like new condition are acceptable (one or two dents is okay, but no major cosmetic damage). (b) Use whatever insulation thickness that is required to reach a minimum value of R-11. (c) Please include a lockset for each door. (d) Your recommended HVAC is acceptable. QUESTION 3: When reading these questions please note that this is not a standard or stock item it is an ISO steel shipping container that was an empty unit that was modified to some specification. a. The photo depicts container end doors were removed and a blank steel wall was installed in its place however spec nor diagram makes no mention of this, please clarify. We can leave existing double swing container doors. b. Heat & Cool: No mention of BTUs and heat capacity or any specifications regarding Central NVAC, no drawing or specification for ducts, registers or anything about location of duct work. c. No mention of size or quantity of windows, and doors. d. No mention of size, spec or location of fluorescent ceiling lights. Also what is the specification for exterior lights there are many different qualities. e. No mention of spec on table and overhead shelf, is it wood or metal any dimensions? f. T grid ceiling is it a drop ceiling? Please advise any additional specification that you may have. g. Normally on these type of container modifications the walls & ceilings are insulated, and not the floor please note that a container floor is typically approx 1 1/8 inch thick plywood floor. The floor sits on the structural crossmembers which are part of the understructure of the container. The bottom of the floor to the ground is approx. 4 to 5 inches. Since this being the case should the floor require insulation and if so should it be insulated from underside or inside of the container. ANSWER: (a) Double-swing doors must be removed and replaced with blank wall. (b) HVAC: Cannot specify we need whatever HVAC system will be sufficient to cool this space down in daytime temps reaching 120F and heat in lows of 30F. (c) Three windows, two doors as per floorplan provided. (d) Lighting: standard interior office lighting. Sorry I cannot be more specific. No exte rior lighting requirements. (e) Desk: width of container, depth 3 feet. Shelf: width of container, depth 18 inches. Fold-Down plans table: width 5 feet, depth 3 feet. Wood or metal is acceptable. Dimensions are approximate. (f) Ceiling insulation: Drop Ceiling not required (can drip only up to six inches). (g) Floor insulation not required. QUESTION 4: We are assuming that these offices will be built in a steel shipping container such as a rail car and we are wondering if you can provide these at a lower cost for the project or if we should attain these ourselves. ANSWER: We don t have these containers to provide. You should attain these yourself. QUESTION 5: Are the offices divided into 2 private offices with 2 exterior doors; or are their 2 interior offices with 2 interior doors and a small reception area with its own door? ANSWER: The floor plan was provided to answer this question. All other terms and conditions remain unchanged.*****
