- Description
- On 11 September the magnitude of the challenge the Intelligence Community faces in supporting the development and execution of U.S. policy became significantly more apparent. On October 24-25, 2001, AFCEA International will host its annual Fall Intelligence Symposium at the Defense Intelligence Analysis Center (DIAC), on Bolling AFB, Washington, DC. Months ago "Intelligence and National Strategy" was selected as the symposium theme. Today that focus is even more relevant. As President Bush has declared, we are in a long-term war with global terrorism, and this, with its related consequences (homeland defense, new coalitions, etc.) will be the reality for national security and intelligence for the foreseeable future. For those of you who have already registered, this email serves as confirmation that the fall symposium is on schedule as planned. For those of you still considering attending, this is a gentle reminder that as an Intelligence Professional, you can't afford to miss this event. The symposium's four sessions will focus on the connection between Intelligence and U.S. national strategy. The first session will review recent studies that have focused on the state of the Community. Session two will spotlight new prerequisites for gathering and creating intelligence. The third session will highlight new requirements and technologies for analysis and sharing. The final session will add Congressional, industry and budgetary perspectives. Special featured speakers include Vice Admiral Thomas R. Wilson, USN, Director, Defense Intelligence Agency; Lt Gen James R. Clapper, USAF (Ret.), Director (incoming), National Imagery and Mapping Agency; and Mr. Richard L. Haver, Special Assistant to the Secretary of Defense for Intelligence. But these three are just the tip of the iceberg! For more information, including a detailed agenda; a listing of all confirmed speakers; fees, directions, general information; and secure on-line registration, visit www.afcea.org If you have questions about attending, exhibiting or would prefer to have us mail you a registration package, please contact Terry Rogers at (800) 336-4583, ext. 6238 or email him at mailto:trogers@afcea.org. Attendees must be U.S. citizens and have a Top Secret clearance with SI/TK access. We look forward to serving you at the AFCEA Fall '01 Intelligence Symposium!
